Ian Goodwin Driving School
Cambridge
Welcome to I.G.Driving
Hi I'm Ian Goodwin & I teach MANUAL Driving Lessons in the Cambridge area.
I offer weekly 2hr driving lessons, normal once or twice a week. I am not an intensive driving school.
I have been teaching in the Cambridge area for over 20 years and have helped 100's of pupils both young and old to start or return to driving. I have a very good knowledge of the area and have been driving the around the city and many of the villages to the North, West and South for over 35 years.

I teach mainly in the villages the west of Cambridge and across the city, for tests at the Cambridge Driving Test Centre. If you wish to learn to drive, I will help you every step of the way from the theory test through to your driving test, and on to Pass Plus. I will push you to be the best driver you can, but most of all you will be a safe driver.
I will not simply teach you how to pass the test, I will teach you to drive safely for the rest of your life.
I am a self-employed franchisee of the British School of Motoring (BSM) and as such my tuition vehicle is a BSM insured and branded car, currently it is a MANUAL 2022 Peugeot 2008.
Important UPDATE for 2024 DRIVING test WAITING Times

Due to the Covid pandemic and the UK lockdowns,
the normal UK Practical Driving Test waiting times (of about 12-15 weeks in 2019) DOUBLED!
It is important to book and start working on your Driving Theory Test, today.
https://www.gov.uk/book-theory-test
I can start teaching you to drive before your Theory, but you must pass your Theory Test before we can book your Driving Test.
The knock-on affect from the Lockdowns, are still causing a problem 2024 but things are finally starting to improve.
Currently there is a 20+ week waiting list for driving tests in Cambridge. This is not just limited to Cambridge, this is a national problem, partly because many of the UK's driving examiners did not return to work after Covid, and fewer tests are being conducted each day.
Despite the unusually long waiting times, don't delay your driving lessons as it still takes time to learn to drive. Please be aware the days of intensive courses and passing your driving test in a couple of months is unrealistic under the current circumstances.
